Roberto Ruscitti

Roberto Ruscitti was born December 12, 1941 in Casano, Italy. Despite his Italian heritage he is known for his compositions and representation of Venezuelan music. A composer, soloist, accordionist, and pianist Ruscitti is both nationally and globally recognized for his interpretation of Venezuelan music.  He studied at the Escuela Nacional de Música de Caracas in Venezuela under Vicente Emilio Sojo and Moises Moleiro and received his diploma as a soloist and composer for piano. He then studied under Cristóbal Gornés, and became a teacher of musical pedagogy at the Escuela de música Nacional "Sebastián Echeverría Lozano" in Valencia, Venzuela.

He did not concentrate on only one music style, but instead broadened his knowledge and compositions with the tango, tarantella, joropo, merengue, and salsa. Founded the Academia Venezolana de Música Smith, as well as the Orquesta Juvenil Venezolana de acordeonistas and has directed many operas and produced his own radio show.

Ruscitti has also preformed in concerts with national and international artists like the tenors Carlos Almenar Otero, Roberto Aranguren and accordion players like, Pietro Deiro, Domingo Doglio. He has received many awards, two of which are Andrés Bello National Order in 1989 and Sol dorado in 1989 both in recognition of his valuable labor promoting Venezuelan popular music and culture.
